A series of training workshops was provided by Aus4Skills, an Australian Government-funded program, to Australian alumni working in education sector. The workshops introduced a range of topics including how to develop professional practice, how to identify behaviours of good managers and leaders, the importance of self-reflection and how to use management and leadership skills to inspire team members.
The workshops were facilitated by Dr Greg McMillan, former Vice-Chancellor at Central Queensland University, Australia. As an experienced strategic leadership advisor to various universities in Australia and Viet Nam, Dr Greg McMillan provided the workshop participants with knowledge and skills that an effective leader should possess.
A range of topics that were discussed include: are conflicts in an organization bad? How an effective team can be nurtured? How can professional and personal plans be developed to meet both career and personal ambitions?
This training workshop is part of various activities carried out by the network of 70 thousand Australian Alumni in Vietnam, being coordinated by Aus4Skills program. The network works to contribute to the development of Vietnam in priority areas, and to promote linkages between Vietnam and Australia.

Australian Alumni in Vietnam make valuable contributions to Vietnam’s development in selected priority areas, contribute to organisational change, and strengthen linkages between Vietnam and Australia through Alumni Professional Group activities and the Australian Alumni Grants Fund (AAGF) projects.
Six Alumni Professional Groups have been established in Economics and Business, Agriculture, Legal and Justice, Gender, Education and Research, and Disability Inclusion to provide alumni with opportunities to develop professionally by exchanging expertise and experiences. These Professional Groups are also a platform for Australian universities or other stakeholders to collaborate with Australian alumni in Vietnam.
