The animated infographic series on Covid-19 created by lecturers and students from the Multimedia Communications Department, Thai Nguyen University, has attracted thousands of views, hundreds of shares, and covered by various media outlets after two weeks of publishing.
“How to make people with hearing problems know all about Covid-19 epidemic when this dangerous pandemic is spreading across continents? Don’t worry! Listen with your eyes by watching the videos made specifically for people using sign language!” The opening message about Covid-19 special video series on Thai Nguyen University of Technology and Communications attracted more than 7,500 views, 177 shares and hundreds of likes.
“Short and concise, easy to remember and apply” Facebooker Hoang Trang shared.
The appeal of the videos, according to the general public, is vivid graphic images, short sentences and simple language such as: “What to do if you were in contact with a Covid-19 infected person/suspected to be infected”, “What to eat to combat the Corona virus”, “Telling common flu from Covid-19 symptoms” … made information on Covid-19 prevention simpler, easier to understand and remember.
The infographic series was adapted into a sign language version to equip deaf people with healthcare skills to cope with the Covid-19 risks.
