Celebrating alumni advancing the Vietnam – Australia relationship

Nominations are now open for the Australia Alumni Awards 2025, a prestigious initiative that recognises and celebrates the outstanding contributions of alumni of Australian education in Vietnam.

There are nearly 100,000 Australian alumni in Vietnam, who are making vital and sustained contributions to Vietnam’s ability to grow and tackle emerging challenges and opportunities. First introduced in 2023, the Australian Alumni Awards honour alumni who have demonstrated leadership, innovation, and a commitment to making a positive impact in Vietnam and beyond.

The 2025 Australian Alumni Awards will once again showcase the invaluable role that Australian-educated individuals play in strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Australia and Vietnam, driving forward economic, social, and environmental progress.

“The Australian Alumni Awards honour individual contributions by alumni to Vietnam’s development and highlight their leadership in their areas of expertise,” said Ms Renee Deschamps, Charge d’Affaires of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam. “Through these awards, we celebrate the cooperation between Australia and Vietnam in various areas and the people-to-people links that underpins the Vietnam – Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”

The 2025 Australian Alumni Awards will recognise alumni contributions to Vietnam’s future across six key categories: “Distinguished Alumni”, “Building Knowledge and Connecting People”, “Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation”, “Women in Leadership”, “Enhancing Economic Engagement”, “Climate, Environment and Energy”.

Winner of the 2023 Women in Leadership Award, Dr Vo Hoang Yen, said: “My life was transformed by my studies in Australia, and I hope that these awards show everyone what is possible and inspire even more people to take up studies.”

Winners will receive up to AUD1,500 for professional development support, as well as official recognition from the Australian Embassy in Vietnam.

The Awards are open to any individual who has studied, researched, or trained with an Australian institution, whether in Australia, Vietnam, a third country, or online. Self-nominations and nominations by alumni fellows are welcome.

Nominate here.

Nominations close by midnight Sunday 6 April 2025 (Vietnam time).
