AUD 50.1 Million for Australia- Vietnam Human Resource

The Australian Embassy in Vietnam and the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) announced the Australia-Vietnam Human Resource Development Program (Aus4Skills) for the period 2021-2025, valued up to AUD 50.1 million.

On the 22nd of October, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam and MOET held the Signing Ceremony of the Subsidiary Arrangement between the Vietnamese Government and the Australian Government on the Aus4Skills Program 2021-2025.

Vice Minister of MOET Nguyen Van Phuc and Australia’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Ms. Robyn Mudie, attended the ceremony and signed the agreement.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc also emphasised the effective cooperation between the two countries in education and training. Furthermore, he expressed his wish for Vietnam and Australia’s continued strategic partnership in education and training, which is crucial for realising economic and human resource development goals.

At the event, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam and the Ministry of Education and Training announced the Vietnam – Australia Human Resource Development Program (Aus4Skills) for the period 2021-2025, valued up to AUD 50.1 million.

Through the program, the Australian Government will offer Australia Awards Scholarships for Vietnamese citizens to study at Australian universities; implement Australian alumni professional development activities; support projects initiated and implemented by Australian alumni that contribute to Vietnam’s development. The Aus4Skills program will also provide higher education capacity building activities with university leaders.

Vice Minister Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc and Australian Ambassador Robyn Mudie signed a Subsidiary Arrangement for the Aus4Skills program 2021-2025.

Ms. Robyn Mudie shared that the program remained highly relevant to supporting Viet Nam’s human resource development priorities, especially as it would navigate the challenges presented by COVID-19.

From 2016 to 2021, over 105,000 Vietnamese students have benefitted from improved teaching, curricula and governance as a result of Aus4Skills program’s support.

The Aus4Skills program had funded 240 Australia Awards Scholarships for Vietnamese citizens to study at Australian universities; delivered over $1m in grant funding for 95 development projects, led by Australian alumni; organised 162 professional development events attended by over 7,500 Australian alumni in Vietnam; strengthened the teaching practices of 339 lecturers at Vietnamese universities and vocational education and training (VET) institutions.

The program also connected logistics enterprises with vocational education institutions to improve the quality of training and skills for the logistics workforce; renewed 147 training curricula of universities and VET institutions; improved the quality of training on gender equality for more than 59,000 Vietnamese government officials.
